HOP PICKING
Visiting Hop Pickers


Every September the regular hop farm workers were supplemented by visiting workers to pick the hops.  Initially when all hop picking was done by hand, workers came mainly from London and Hastings.  In later years as hop picking became more mechanised, foreign students were employed to bring the hop bines from the hop gardens to the picking machines.
